New to Slackware. A couple of questions.

I've successfully installed Slackware 9.0, but now I have a couple of questions.

1. Is there a downloadable version of the Slackware Book, as I think it might be useful to have it available offline.

2. Does Slack use modules.conf, I was poking aroud looking for something and I found that there were no entries in it.

3. I've found that Konqueror in SU mode crashes immediately on starting, is there a work around for this as the only solution I've found involves patching and recompiling arts.

That's enough to be going on with, for now.

Cheers
Amos

No, I mean how can I get a full offline copy.

You can just buy it for 20 dollars, which I don't think would put anyone out too much, and you'd be supporting a good cause (i.e. Slackware Linux).

Check out /etc/rc.d/rc.modules ..

Try using kfmclient instead (`kfmclient --command` should give you a list of options) .. I don't know if this will work however as I don't use konqueror ..

For a good Slackware book, you can try Slackware Linux Unleashed. You can find it here:
http://www.maththinking.com/boat/computerbooks.html

under Unix, Linux, X-Windows section.

Enjoy

Why can't anyone give this guy a straight answer to #1?

Amos, you can get a tarred and zipped version of the book at this link:

ftp://ftp.kpn.be/pub/linux/slackware/jph

Also, check out the following link for a site by a group that is 'updating' the book:

http://slackbook.yoshiwara.org.uk/

I found both these links at a great Slackware tips site that someone (sorry I don't remember who) posted here a while ago. Be sure to check this one:

Enjoy!
