New sticker for my laptop

So a few weeks ago, I realized that since I don't run windows, I shouldn't have a windows 7 sticker on my computer. I peeled it off but that left a gap and looked ugly. After a while I decided to order a Slackware sticker for it, because that's my OS. The problem is though, OEM stickers are not easy to get ahold of, let alone print stuff on. Long story short, I called a bunch of design firms in my area, and got a sticker made. Its been three weeks, and this morning, this beauty arrived:

I'm so happy right now :D

They did everything exactly how I ordered it, down to the foil OEM sticker backing. Its beautiful.

That is awesome. Gotta say, I'm a bit jealous. :)

PrinceCruise 03-30-2012 01:26 PM

That sticker looks professional. Sweet.:)

Regards.

multios 03-30-2012 02:14 PM

Congrats on the sticker. I agree: sweet :)

Keith Hedger 03-30-2012 02:18 PM

Nice! where do I get one? you should start a business!

Alien Bob 03-30-2012 02:20 PM

Nice indeed.

cascade9 03-30-2012 02:20 PM

As usual, my 'remove all stickers' policy makes me the odd one out. ;)

acid_kewpie 03-30-2012 02:21 PM

You must have literally a person that has commented on it in the real world!

slacker77 03-30-2012 03:13 PM

slackware sticker

nice. I have a similar sticker ordered from this site:

brianL 03-30-2012 03:59 PM

I'm surprised the Slackware store doesn't sell them. They have case plates:

jlinkels 03-30-2012 07:04 PM

I sure is very nice. But give the Slovakian-language-only website I can imagine they are not selling world-wide. Too bad, I was almost ready to order a bunch Debian and GNU/Linux.

Very cool! :)

frankbell 03-30-2012 09:10 PM

Cool.

I used to have a Slackware case plate on my old server what has long since gone to the boneyard.

Not just you. I'm quick to rip those suckers off too. :)

brianL 03-31-2012 05:51 AM

I've ripped off any that mention That Other Operating System. Forget what it's called, now. Begins with W?

mr.b-o-b 03-31-2012 08:12 AM

trademark91 - I am most envious of your sticker! That is fantastic!

camorri 03-31-2012 08:58 AM

Nice sticker, I could use a sheet of those. I ripped off all the windoze stickers, and my daughter thought it made the systems look ugly. So see bought me a sheet of linux stickers from zazzle.com. Not a pretty as the Slack sticker.

However better than advertising for windoze.

Found this link, if anyone is interested.

There was a minimum order of 150 stickers in order to have them made, but after I explained to the company that I only needed one, they sold the rest to a different distributor to help offset the production cost (and the cost for me). You might find this stickers brothers and sisters elsewhere if you look, but I have no idea where they sold them to.

mr.b-o-b 04-01-2012 10:06 AM

Thanks escaflown for the link!

I just ordered 10 of those!

Nice!

frankbell 04-01-2012 08:33 PM

So too did I order 10 for now and future computers.

Totoro-kun 04-03-2012 01:06 AM

I too made me some stickers from the Slackware propoganda page, hopefully authros won't mind me using them as stickers on my and few of my friends computers :)

I have to admit I've left stickers with that W word on computers. Only W95 though....its always a laugh shoving new parts into an ancient case and taking it to someones place for a bit of gaming.

A little WD-40 will remove the stickum left on the surface of the case. If it is a plastic case (or painted) try a spot on the case where, if there is a negative reaction, it won't be seen. Wait 20 minutes. If nothing "bad" happens, go ahead and do the spot where the, ugh, winblows sticker was attached. Works great!

My stickers finally arrived. It about three weeks for them to get here from China.

SqdnGuns 05-10-2012 09:49 PM

Maybe Pat should include these in the Slackware store since he has trademarked "Slackware Linux".

I agree, I'd buy em'. I'd also like to see a sticker for the lid of my laptop's as well. And a lady's night shirt / pajama type of shirt they need too at the store. And coffee mugs! Why don't they have Slackware coffee mugs? And beer steins. I could go on ... and on .. :)

cwizardone 05-11-2012 11:51 AM

Yep. I would definitely buy a coffee mug. Already have the book and the DVD.

frankbell 05-11-2012 08:36 PM

I think that's a great idea. I bought a case plate when I had a computer that used them. I'd happily stickers. I'd even buy a second order to make up for the unauthorized one.

I would happily buy them. I bought a caseplate. I would happily buy stickers to support Slackware.

Edit: This duplicate is here because I couldn't find the previous post when I was looking for it. I'm not sure who messed up: Me or LQ. Probably me.

Apologies.

Does this thread keep popping up as "contains unread new posts" for you guys as well? I hope to squelch that by posting a reply... sorry for the noise.
I do wish I had ordered some of the stickers when there was still a stock quantity ;-) Perhaps I should order a new set.

Eric

jlinkels 05-14-2012 08:07 AM

Yes it does keep popping up.

:)

red_fire 05-14-2012 09:51 AM

there are still some available:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Powered-...32173586169906

that's another link by the same seller

"more than 10 available" it says

bsd1101 05-14-2012 07:06 PM

purchased 10 last night.

schmatzler 05-14-2012 08:32 PM

Cool stickers *-* Also bought some. Will replace the old XP sticker on my notebook nicely.

pennadl 09-17-2012 06:00 PM

You can find good selection and quality stickers at www.unixstickers.com

frankbell 09-17-2012 09:29 PM

I did not see a Slackware sticker there.

NyteOwl 09-18-2012 08:36 PM

I do hope all the sticker makers asked permission first. Or did they miss this part ? "SlackwareŽ is a registered trademark of Slackware Linux, Inc. All logos and graphics are copyrighted."

It would be nice if some of the revenue all those vendors make found it's way to Pat and Slackware.
