New site to search packages containing a file
I wrote a small site to search slackware packages containing a wanted file.
slak.homelinux.org It do searches in official slackware repositories and some non official. It is based on PACKAGES.TXT, so all repositories containing it can be used. If a repository contain even the MANIFEST.bz2 file, then this tool can search packages from its content. Results are cliccable link so to download the package directly. Thanx all for reported repositories. Now are supported 40 repositories. If you know other, report me, so I can add it. NEW!!! I've added two search method useful for your script. First: http://slak.homelinux.org/searchtxt.php can report results in plain text/csv format. Second: http://slak.homelinux.org/search.xml.php can report results in xml format. Both are in development but working mode. Report me if you found a bug (or if you want add a field). Sorry for my bad english, 01 |
Hello,
Just tried with a search for a package that was recently causing me some problems and it found it right away with the correct repo. I can see this being a very useful to tool. Thanks for setting it up and I hope it remains available. Bob |
Thanks for doing this. I know I've been missing this a lot since the "official" Slackware package browser went down.

Very useful tool, thank you.

Thank all for new repositories reported.
@aszabo: there is a malformed package in Slackware 12.2 repository: the package grub-gfxboot_0.97-33_i386.tgz should be: grub-gfxboot-0.97.33-i386-1.tgz |

@zerouno:
To make searching easier, I have added a MANIFEST.bz2 file to my repository ( http://slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/ ) Also, perhaps you could add this second repository (ftp link only) which contains all the goodies which I am not allowed to host in the US: ftp://ftp.slackware.org.uk/people/al...d_slackbuilds/ Message to repository owners: If you use my "gen_repos_files.sh" script to generate their repository files: the latest version of http://slackware.com/~alien/tools/gen_repos_files.sh will generate this MANIFEST.bz2. Please leave the "<generator> </generator>" string in the RSS unchanged. Eric |
@alien
Your MANIFEST.bz2 is malformed at line 458 : -rw-r--r-- /ftp 620 2000-12-11 12:10:50 usr/share/timidity/drums.cfg have wrong user/group relative file in TiMidity++-2.13.2-i486-1.tgz is: -rw-r--r-- 10170/ftp 620 2000-12-11 12:10 usr/share/timidity/drums.cfg and creation of my database fail. Goodbye 01 |
