In the least current change log:
http://dev.slackware.it/changelogs/v...ent/1239657732
I noticed some change in pkgtool and related:
Code:
a/less-418-i486-2.tgz: Add support in lesspipe.sh for viewing .tbz, .tlz, .txz,
.tar.lzma, and .tar.xz files.
a/pkgtools-12.34567890-noarch-1.tgz: Added support for .tbz, .tlz, and .txz
packages in addition to the traditional .tgz format.
...
isolinux/initrd.img: Rebuilt with newly compiled kernel modules.
Added support for .tbz, .tlz, and .txz packages.
usb-and-pxe-installers/: Rebuilt usbboot.img with newly compiled
kernel modules. Added support for .tbz, .tlz, and .txz packages.
And this make me recall that in the last but one update in current PV add xz which could handle LZMA compression. Maybe there is a time sequence...
Back to the topic, will LZMA or other compression method be the substitution of gzip for official pkg compression?
