Code:

The new kernel is working well here as well on -stable. My -current box updated successfully.

Code:

Linux mothership 4.4.74 #1 SMP Mon Jun 26 02:33:02 CDT 2017 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4810MQ CPU @ 2.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Been working just fine here since yesterday. (I was bored so I ran my update script.)

hitest 06-30-2017 09:06 PM

The new kernel is working well here too on my stable boxes and -current box.

Code:

Linux thor 4.4.75 #2 SMP Fri Jun 30 02:57:58 CDT 2017 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

4.9.35 is working good here! ;)

always exciting, don't know when I did last my kernel install on this machine.
forza unlimited history in my root bash, so the mkinitrd command and the copying to EFI folder was still there ;-)
to me it seems the EFI is much smother than the old bios boot MBR update, problem is only, I do this so seldom, I forget always how things work

Stray files

My install of the Slackware64-14.2 package kernel-source-4.4.74-noarch-1 left some stray files behind in my / directory:

Quote:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 36 Jun 27 05:25 linux-event-codes.h -> ../../uapi/linux/input-event-codes.h
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jun 27 05:25 sun8i-a33-et-q8-v1.6.dts -> sun8i-a33-q8-tablet.dts
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jun 27 05:25 sun8i-a33-ippo-q8h-v1.2.dts -> sun8i-a33-q8-tablet.dts
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jun 27 05:25 sun8i-a23-ippo-q8h-v5.dts -> sun8i-a23-q8-tablet.dts
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jun 27 05:25 sun8i-a23-ippo-q8h-v1.2.dts -> sun8i-a23-q8-tablet.dts
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 46 Jun 27 05:25 vexpress-v2m-rs1.dtsi -> ../../../../arm/boot/dts/vexpress-v2m-rs1.dtsi
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34 Jun 27 05:25 dt-bindings -> ../../../../../include/dt-bindings
The links are broken, of course. I found the lines in the package install script that creates those links. I can see how a failed cd could lead to those symlinks being created, but I don't know why it would fail.

Anyway, the (non-arm) system is running fine. I was just caught off-guard by the stray files.

Remember to run lilo before the reboot. I know you know this. I updated 3 -stable boxes and one -current box. Smooth as silk. No need to cross fingers. :)
