Also, I get:
Code:
mingdao@james:~$ cd /sbin/
mingdao@james:/sbin$ more lspci

******** lspci: Not a text file ********

mingdao@james:/sbin$
because it's a binary executable file.
Code:
mingdao@james:/sbin$ file lspci
lspci: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped

You don't need to be root if you type the full path > /sbin/lspci

Very good. Slackware seems to have recognized everything on your motherboard.
Do you know of any hardware that's missing?

In Windoze they are called _drivers_ but in *nix we call them _modules_ usually.
Now, this fellow Bluenoser says they work automatigically for him, so perhaps we
could persuade him to issue "lsmod" and show us his modules. If so, we're probably
almost there.

If you would like to try the sound, if this is an Intel board I believe this might work. Open
a terminal, su (switch user) to root, and type the following line then press enter.
modprobe snd-intel8x0;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss

After you do that, please type in a terminal "lsmod" without the quote marks and post
the output. I don't think the NIC module is in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules so that we could tell
you how to uncomment and load them. If this other fellow doesn't post back, we'll have
to search some more for your modules.

I believe they are nvnet and nvsound, but I've never run a nForce chipset. You can find
more information by searching within LQ and also using Google <Linux>

And also, I think you should definitely download this file:
http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/n...-0301-pkg1.run
and install it and edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf according to the Nvidia instructions

I just tried it, and it downloads fine, so it must be on your end. It's 5.6mb
