Apparently not many members within this thread have read the changelog;

$(fortune) just obtained logging in to stamp the Changelog, finally:
"You single-handedly fought your way into this hopeless mess."
Well, we'll work on rectifying that situation. :-) Sorry about the
lack of updates... everything here blew up all at once, it seemed, but
equipment, upstream targets, and reality all seem to be settling down
enough to get these updates out and have them be an actual improvement
over what's already up. Hope to have more soon. Cheers!
Hopefully some insight can be garnered from the above statement for future speculations.
onebuck, apparently you forgot to see timestamps of messages of this thread. Most messages date at most February 1st and Changelog.txt was update in the middle of February 2nd.

I did not forget to look at the time-stamp of either the thread posts or changelog. As I said "Apparently" thread participant members have not read the changelog. Nor care to retract their before mentioned criticism.
My criticism is justified! People can complain, criticize or speculate about a situation but when things are moving to the good there are not any accolades from the same people. The full belly bear no longer growls.
That's why I stated "Hopefully some insight can be garnered from the above statement for future speculations." in reference to the changelog excerpt. Things were going on in the background, knowledgeable members stated such. Yet, continued unwarranted critique.

I can understand your feelings, but, I say live and let live. We are all Slackers. I am thrilled that updates are being released again. It is all good.
All the "Woooohoooo! it's moving again" stuff happened in a different thread, which might explain why this one remained dormant until onebuck woke it up.
As one of the participants of this thread I don't feel that I have anything to retract and the fact that the dry-spell appears to be over, however welcome, doesn't invalidate any of the points I made during it.
This thread has made me want to bring up a question I've had for a while: where can I lurk to see how Slackware is being developed? Is there a mailing list I can join?
Slackware doesn't have a dev mailing list or forum like the community based distros tend to have so the first time we get to see things is when it hits current. Occasionally, Robby or Eric will post something in here requesting people to test, but for the most part it all happens in private. It's worth keeping an eye on Eric's blog though as that often gives insights into what is coming up.

I agree.
Yes it is a good thing that Patrick pushed out some updates and I'm sure most thread participants have read the changelog. I hope the updates continue to roll out. People usually criticize, complain, or speculate on things they care about. I think overall people were concerned for Patrick and the future of Slackware. I think most of the concern should be about Patrick. I mean he's been working on Slackware for a long time and it wouldn't surprise me if he wanted a change. That's why I think his Twitter account says, "BDFL@Slackware... for now". Sounds like he's been considering a change and I don't blame him a bit. I'm very appreciative of the work he's done and whatever he continues to do with Slackware.
Based on some of the conversations going on here lately, I propose a new motto.
"Slackware.
The distro of choice for little girls."
When the only answer you can give to a legitimate question is evangelical, let's just make fun of them for having real concerns. I'm sure if Pat announced 'oops, the server's blowing up and three million things are going wrong' from the start we'd all have a little more compassion during the patch outage than we had with radio silence.
I don't see a need for any apology on either side or anywhere in between -- the situation is over, those who had concerns have been appeased, and those who praised Bob in the face of danger can remain praising Bob.
