After installing the regular Slackware 14.2 , it connected to Internet perfectly well, but the Network icon was missing, so I type as a root the following, to get it to show up on KDE panel:
chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager
it did show up but no longer connects and gives a message: deactivated , any way to reverse or activate the connection ?
I point out that same procedure was followed on the version put out by alien Bob, it it works normal!
What did you select for your internet connection during install? It might be best to reset that by running (as root) netconfig, and selecting loopback to reset your settings, and then running it again and selecting Network Manager. That should set everything correct and hopefully it'll work after your next reboot.
netconfig , works and and I followed the question and prompt etc, but it did not connect to Internet, please not that this is happening with the Standard/Official version of Slackware 14.2, the one put out by person with sobriquet of Alien Bob, it works perfectly and has no problem! , I am ruining both of them on Virtualbox, and on the Hard Disk using a Century Hard Drive Rack, as I have been ask to install one of them for a friend, I am trying to optimise the distro .
How are you trying to connect? If it is with ethernet (which I imagine is the case since you said they're VMs), it should just work if you select the dhcp option and either reboot or restart /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1. I've never tried using Network Manager to manage my ethernet connection, although, I have read it is capable of doing so (never felt a need since dhcp works without issue).
I would check your VM network settings. In VirtualBox, I have mine set to Bridged Adapter.
