[solved] network card

Hi all,
I installed my slack10.0 with a non official CD (to support SATA HD, cd from http://transamrit.net:8082) and all is OK except the network card embedded in my MB ASUS P8P400-E deluxe, which is not recognized (no eth1).
My other network card (realtek 8139, module 8139too) was well recognized (eth0).

the result of pcimodules is :
...
8139too
8139cp
...
but if I try modprobe 8139cp, I get errors, module is not loaded.
What have I to do to make my network card running OK?
thx for u help.

hi,

look at the output of : " lspci " to check if there are 2 NIC's.( 1 of type 8139 plus your onboard chip.)

maybe you just haven't loaded the right module for your 2.nd NIC.
( for onboard NIC you could try the "tulip" module eg .: " modprobe tulip " )

Hello egag,
thx for answering my question.

when i run lspci, the last 2 lines are :
02:05.0 Ethernet Controller : Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adapter (rev 13)
02:0a.0 Ethernet Controller : Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)

That's the first card which isn't OK (eth1 unknow interface : No such device when ifconfig eth1 up)
What can I do?

The Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet require sk98lin module, try :

edit /etc/modprobe.conf (for 2.6 kernel) or /etc/modules.conf (2.4 kernel)
and add :
alias eth1 sk98lin

load the module :
modprobe sk98lin

then restart network :
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 stop
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 start
kill -HUP `cat /var/run/inetd.pid`

THANKS Cedrik (and egag)!!!
It's now working.
But it apperas that both network card run at 10 Mbps speed! (result of dmesg)
The light of the embedded network card is orange (and green for the realtek)
What could I do?
thx

*edit*
Sometimes I should turn on my brean! I think it's due to my network...sorry!
*end edit*
