http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...03#post1128703 As I was asked to make a new thread for my problems I have everything now working perfectly. With the exception of my internet. I am using DSL through a router, I have no clue what my hostname or domain name is, but i do know DHCP is enabled, my IP and my subnet etc.... I tried to config it but the internet still wont work =\ I do recall something about hostname being the comp name.. and quick command to type in slack to get that? |
with 'netconfig' is only asked for a 'computer-name' ( anything is ok ), a domainname ( .org or whatever )
then choose 'dhcp' . that should work... egag |
What does ifconfig eth0 spit out?

If you are running PPPoE you can try using adsl-setup.
As mentioned above, the hostname isn't all that important. Some leave it as darkstar, some use localhost. If you are not running a server and have the need for a specific domain name, I use my ISP's. Using some of the CLI seems easier that way. |
