It looks like suidperl has been removed from perl in version 5.8; see "Deprecations" section at
http://www.perl.com/pub/a/2003/01/16/whatsnew.html

I have the same problem with openwebmail. I will talk to the guys at openwebmail.org.

The last time suidperl appeared in Slackware was in 8.1; the version of perl was 5.6.1.

/usr/bin/suidperl -> sperl5.6.1

You can try uninstalling your current verison of perl and installing the older slackware
package; download the following and use pkgtool to remove the old and install the new:
ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwar...6.1-i386-3.tgz

Im not sure if this will break any dependencies though! I'll try it myself.
I dont know about the security implications of suidperl, but it might be a good
idea to not allow your webmail to post to root.

good luck.

Uh, try this first:
http://www.redhat.com/swr/i386/perl-...5.i386_dl.html

rpm2tgz it and go to town

you will know if it doesn't work right because neomail uses the suidperl to access the passwd file.

The RedHat suidperl binary gives an apache error in slackware 9.1: "/usr/bin/suidperl: error while loading shared libraries: libperl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"; maybe there's a simple fix for this - I don't know.

The Slackware downgrade to perl 5.6 works fine for openwebmail.
