Need "usbinstall" answers _before_ I begin...

I have a question about Alien Bob's "create_multipartboot.sh" instructions since I've not found this adequately addressed by googling.

My machine's internal DVD rw no longer r's or w's. :-) I've successfully used the "boot only" usbboot.img before, installing Slackware 64-bit with an external DVD drive. But with the usbinstall instructions, I do have 2 questions before I begin:

Where should the files "INSUSB", "SeTMEDIA.diff", "create_multipart.sh", "mbr.bin", "rc.usb.diff" be? In my home directory? Or where? And "ms_sys" should be "installpkg"ed from /tmp, or is from /home okay?

And finally: how should "ms_sys" be installed to the USB stick since using "dd if=usbhd.img of=/dev/sd*" would clobber "ms_sys" if it were already installed?

Exacting step-by-step answers are appreciated. I consider myself "moderately" Slack literate...I mostly use my laptop as a document creator, surfboard and a/v player.

And while I've used other distros (and FreeBSD) during the last 10 years, Slack continues to be my "one true" os since the 9.0 days. So thank you Pat & Robby & contributors for a wonderful os and a _huge_ thank you to Alien Bob for all of the work on x86_64!

If you search for "usb" on http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/ you'll find an easier way to create a usb boot drive.

Thank you! Somewhere in looking for answers I hadn't read about the "usb2disk.sh" details on your blog. And, again, all of your work on x86_64 has been greatly appreciated.

Molly H.
