ndiswrapper errors upon getting the module loaded with modprobe
Finally installed 12.1 on my laptop, great stuff as usual!
One problem though. I can't get the ndiswrapper module loaded for some reason after getting it installed. I'm running a 100& full slackware install with an original non smp kernel. (huge.s)
If you decide to use one of the non-SMP kernels,
you will need to follow the instructions in /extra/linux-2.6.24.5-nosmp-sdk/README.TXT
to modify your kernel sources for non-SMP usage.
Note that this only applies if you are using the
Slackware-provided non-SMP kernel - if you build
a custom kernel, the symlinks at
/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/{build,source} will point
to the correct kernel source so long as you don't
(re)move it.
Your ndiswrapper problems will vanish after applying the instructions and recompiling your module.
I just went ahead and simply reinstalled 12.1 and used the smp kernel and it actually worked good if not better with my single core cpu and ndiswrapper worked without a problems! Anyways it was a fresh install before and hadn't done anything to it and simply didn't feel like going through the pain of modifying the source. Thanks for the help Eric! I greatly appreciate it. =D
Why should that link solve his problem? It links to a binary ndiswrapper package for the Slackware 12.0 kernel. The original poster uses Slackware 12.1 and that ndiswrapper package of yours will never work there (different kernel version).
A Slackbuild script for ndiswrapper would work, because you can build your own package then, for the kernel you are running on your own machine (Slackware 12.0, 12.1 or custom): http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slac...wrapper/build/
