Nautilus view as "Image Collection" problem

Not sure if this is a common problem for other people, but whenever I try to use Nautilus and have a directory view mode set as "Image Collection", it views fine until you want to change directories, then Nautilus freezes, and then until I reboot, I can't have "Image Collection" work again in Nautilus. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this fixed by Gnome 2.8? And when do you suppose 2.8 is going to show up in the -current branch? Normally I'm not one to go out on the bleeding edge, but come on, I'm a Gnome fan, I'll try 2.8, I just won't change KDE any time soon.... (and hopefully 2.8 won't break any dependancies XFce has, and even more hopeful is if I don't have to worry too much about the MIME-type settings)

Turns out it's a kernel problem, but I'm not sure what exactly is causing it. All I know is that my 2.4.27 kernel that I compiled works fine, but the 2.6.8.1 kernel gets the program hosed up.
