MySQL from current

Hi,

Anybody else have any trouble with the MySQL 3.23.51 in
slackware-current? I can't start it with ./bin/safe_mysqld, and
the error file complains about not being able to find host.frm.

Did I mess up something, or is there a bug here?

Thanks,

Joe

Found it

Found it.

The permissions on the var/lib/mysql
directory were wrong for mysql.

I've removed and re-installed the last
two mysql packages (3.23.49 -2 and
3.23.51 -1) from -current several
times now.

FWIW, this is what works.

installpkg mysqlxxxxx.tgz

/usr/bin/mysql_install_db

(If you have the mysql user & group)
chown -R mysql.mysql /var/lib/mysql

If you don't have a user mysql and a
group mysql, add them before doing the
chown.

BTW, it's the mysql_install_db that sets
the directories to user & group root.

Thanks,

Joe
