My mouse is having a nervous break-down!

Hello:

All of a sudden, my mouse is extremely unresponsive. Although my Slackware is set to single click, sometimes I have quadruple click or worse. (I have been training this mouse for months now.)

I thought it was a power issue so I fed it new batteries - no help.

I tried another mouse - no help.

My Lenovo 'red button' mouse works fine.

Does anyone know a good Vet, or maybe just a cure?

Thanks,

Try cleaning the mouse. It could be dirt near contact buttons. You may have to open up the mouse for this, but a can of air will be a good way to blast away dirt and grime safely.

If this isn't the case, you very well could have a mouse going out, and it may need replacing. Good thing with this is, mice... are cheap, and often mice do run in the category of Field Replaceable Units with some IT repair-persons.

After re-starting the system, the problem disappeared.

Marking as SOLVED.
