Mutli file view/edit facility

I would like to comapre different make files at the same time with a file editor. i.e. have file 1 in a left window and file 2 in a right window. When I scoll through the files I would like them both to scroll at the same time so I ican compare line 1 file 1 with line 2 file 2. This is to compare make/configuration files on screen. Can any of the Slack 11 packaged editor/viewers do this ??

Thanks..

GVim can show two (or more, I believe) files like that in panes, but I don't know if they will scroll at the same time.

Have you looked at sdiff? Doing something like:

sdiff ./File1.txt ./File2.txt | less

Would do what you want, unless you need/want it to be GUI based.

EDIT:

I just checked, and you can easily open multiple files in different panes in GVim, but they scroll seperately, unless there is an option to link them together, but nothing jumped out at me that would seem to do that.

Try `vimdiff`.
