multiple users and Xorg
Sorry if this has been discussed here before but I couldn't come up with a search term to find past threads.
I'm using 13.1 (32-bit) and log into run-level 4. Until now, I was the only user on my laptop, now I've created another user for my 3-yr old daughter. I would like her to play simple math games, tuxtype etc. My question is, how can I switch from my xsession to start another xsession for her while my stuff runs in the background. Any help would be great or you can point to past solutions. Thanks, |
I assume you are running KDE 4. You can do Switch User.

Hi,
Switch to another virtual terminal, and run Code:
startx -- :1 |
Thanks. I'm using XFCE so I guess using Switch User will be a problem. I'll try corbis_demon's tip later today. I was looking more for a GUI solution than a terminal one...not that I'm terminal-challenged :)
Any more tips to try out? |
You could create a bash script with corbis_demon's suggestion, make it executable, and put it on your Desktop. Then you can just click it to run it.

If you want to get really advanced, you can install another graphics card, keyboard, mouse, and monitor then edit the xorg.conf file to start up another x session on it. I saw an example 5 station setup of this on the internet. However, at the time it warned that it could be a bit unstable doing so.
