my guess ...

My guess is that you need to access the cdrw at /dev/sda (or possibly one of the others) instead of at /dev/hdc.

I can't really remember cdrecord as I use K3B now but don't you use the scsi address in the command, like:

cdrecord dev=0,0,0 ...

how's that work??

Please define "rebuild kernel." Did you:

1) Rebuild the 2.4 kernel with 10.0 to add in the support you wanted?

or

2) Download a 2.6 kernel and build that? (If this is the case, please state the kernel you're using - "uname -r").

I used the stock 2.4 kernel that came with slack 10.0 and
just turned on the "Probe all luns on scsi device".

Since this post I commented out the append="hdc=ide-scsi max_scsi_luns=8"
line and left just the "max_scsi_luns=8"
now I can access the writer but I haven't tryed writing to it yet.

thanks for any advice
Phil
