MS WirelessOpticalMouse on Slackware 10.2

How can I install MS Wirelless Optical Mouse 2.0 on Slackware 10.2? I know that I could select my mouse type during the installation, but choosing MS Intellipoint mouse caused my keyboard (standard PS/2) not to work (isn't it weird?). So at this moment I have to use PS/2 mouse. Is it possible to configure WOM on Linux or that mouse is designed only for MS Windows?

Updated: I'm using kernel 2.4.31, would upgrading to 2.6.x help?

Hi,

I'm currently using a M$ Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000 on my Solo 2500 laptop with Slackware 10.2-kernel 2.6.13.

Which kernel are you attempting to use? At one point I was using a wired M$ optical with the same laptop.
