mplayer slackware 12 X crash

when playing video with mplayer,and change betwen workspaces and return to mplayer window the X crash äll an return me to the console, losing everythinh i got open. my pc have a k7vm4 mobo with via km400 integrated video chip .

im running slack 12 and kernel default 2.6
Xorg is configured with driver via that come in slackware.

tried to install unichrome driver from http://unichrome.sourceforge.net/
and openchrome driver tell me error running make :

any help/suggestion welcome =)

Been having quite a few crashes with mplayer since upgrade to slack12. Have tried several different build scripts all with the latest mplayer. Mostly get crashes when I interrupt one video to switch to another.
