mplayer a quick guide


hi

after going to info and download for video player here
http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=1750

I found I needed these to run it

alsa-lib > 0.9.8
arts >= 1.1.4
audiofile >= 0.2.3
cdparanoia >= IIIalpha9.8
esound >= 0.2.32
glib >= 1.2.10
gtk+ >= 1.2.10
libdvdread >= 0.9.4
libmad >= 0.15.0b
oggutils >= 1.0
sdl >= 1.2.6
xfree86 >= 4.3.0
lame

most of these are on your 2 cd set if not go back to linuxpackages

For those not using the CD set, you may need to install the libraries for Ogg and ogg vorbis (libogg & libvorbis). And you can get many of the plugins to work correctly w/o issue at this point. Too bad getting skins and whatnot working w/ mplayer is such a process or I'd almost say installing mplayer is easy
