It seems you may not have installed libao, check to see if you installed the oggutils package from your slackware cd (<mount_point>/slackware/ap/oggutils . . . ). libao is part of that package.

I installed the oggutils package and I still got the same message : no default libao driver available. Anymore suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

In genral sound works, doesn't it? Get libao from http://beyond.linuxfromscratch.co.uk...dia/libao.html and read the instructions on how to enable different drivers (OSS, alsa, etc)

First use locate to find out where the library is located in your system (to make sure oggutils installed it -- In my system libao is under /usr/lib).

Then, use the ldd command to see if all the libraries mpg321 needs exist. (i.e. ldd /usr/bin/mpg321). . .

if libao, is still not found, then check what version of libao mpg321 is looking for from the ldd command output. . . From this point on, it should be relatively easy to install what is missing. . .

Have you tried running it as root, I have the same prob when running it as a reg user.

Your path and lib needs to be updated.

If it works as root but not as a user then it's permission issue, check that users have r+w permission to the sound devices.

Hello,

It is not a permissions issue on the sound device. It has to do with access to the libaries + path I think.
