mpegs under Slack9 will not play using Noatun
Greetings. I'm usually a lurker, and finally, lol *i* have a problem I can't find an answer to. I installed Slack 8.1 a short while ago (I'm a new convert), and everything was sweet. I upgraded to Slack 9 yesterday (4-16), and fumbled my way through the permissions issues regarding my FAT partitions, getting my soundblaster to work... on and on.
What's driving me nuts now is the inability to play Mpegs. not layer3, mp3's are fine, but if i launch an mpg video clip, no "mpegav" window pops up, and the player (noatun) doesnt budge. Prior to the upgrade, in 8.1 this worked post-install (I did have to fiddle to get the sound working). No matter which player I use, the same result. Out of curiousity GNome doesnt work either; if i select it from the login x appears to launch it, then returns to the login screen. I normally use KDE, but noticed this after the upgrade as I wished to see the GNome changes. In my efforts to fix this, I ended up doing an install frrom scratch (not just an update to 8.1 as I thought I'd goofed) and Ive had the same two issues. Has anyone else had this issue? |

Ok..duh... Gnome isn't installed...Gnome core isn't even on the ISO that i d/l'd so that explains that (this what happens when you read the right thread)... but i still don't know if my inability to view mpegs is related to that..
