To install grub in Slackware, take a look at

That is kind of the point. It is a rolling release distro that tries to keep all the packages at the most recent (seemingly) stable version. So it is constantly replacing packages. This is why packages are being offered on most update checks. This doesn't mean the OS is growing in size though as these are replacements. Most of those 'dependencies' are also just updates to previously installed packages. Perhaps you misunderstood this?

Ok, what the hell, I'll bet he sticks with Arch. Not because I think Arch is better than Slackware but because it is also great and to bother to make a switch from something you know, and to learn something new, the new thing generally has to totally superior. Of course this is just a general observation and it doesn't always hold true but I think the odds are more likely he will stick.

Thanks for your input. I think the slack seems more interesting now that I've tested it. (although it was slow on my laptop) Is something that I will have a perfect slackware setup, so I'm going to run the arch, slack and windows (use it only for some games) in tripelboot. Managed to crash my Arch setup yesterday so I'll reinstall everything .. I thought if I install arch after slack I will get grub?

Why not do both? I use more than one distro. Where can't-kill-it stability counts the most Slackware trounces absolutely everything, Chakra has the best KDE ever, Arch gives you access to all of the very latest fun toys... you don't have to have a monogamous relationship with a single distro.

Partition your drive, install windows, then install linux1, then install linux2.
Lilo or grub will add them to the boot loader.

Kind regards

Further to repo's post here is what my lilo.conf looks like. I'm running a dual boot with XP Pro and Slackware-current on this box.

Code:
# Windows bootable partition config begins
other = /dev/sda1
  label = Windows
  table = /dev/sda
# Windows bootable partition config ends
# Linux bootable partition config begins
image = /boot/vmlinuz
  root = /dev/sda3
  label = Linux
  read-only
# Linux bootable partition config ends
I have my home partition mounted on sda4. Have fun.
