Mouse troubles in Slackware 9
I just installed Slackware 9.0 onto an older Gateway Solo 5150 laptop.
When I get to the GUI (using gdm, startx doesn't work, could this be related?) the mouse doesn't work at all. I've tried both with external PS/2 mice and the built-in touchpad. Installation appeared to go off without a hitch, but I also get two other errors on startup, one saying xscreensaver can't execute, and another saying it can't open the mixer device /dev/sound/mixer. Perhaps my installation wasn't as clean as I thought? |
Load Linux under init level 3, by typing: linux init 3 , at LILO.
then run xf86config again and pick a different mouse driver. Try using the Microsoft Mouse driver (even if your mouse isnt by MS) as this tends to work when picking a more generic driver doesnt work. |
if it is a touchpad try using a generic 3 button mouse driver that is what I had to load for my touchpad on my laptop
