Mouse stops working in X

Anybody seen this issue:

after running in Slack 9 for awhile, the mouse ceases to move. The cursor is present at a static point on the screen, and the only way you can get around is by keyboard command. I've changed the runlevel from 5 to 3 and back to fix the problem, but that solution doesnt last long; I usuall have to reboot and the problem doesnt pop up for 24 hours of so. any one else ever note this?

from the console type xf86config,
when asked for the mouse be sure to put the right parameters...
Actually what type of mouse are you using?

do you have a different mouse to try?

I have had the same problem happen. My mouse was set to "Auto", I think that somewhere in the detection it hangs. When I set it to "IMPS/2" to bypass the detection, it worked fine.
