Mouse pointer continues to appear after killing X in console.

First of all hello, I think I may have found my distribution with Slackware.

However, I have a small annoyance that I hope someone can help me solve:

When I exit my WM of choice (IceWM- although this same thing happened in fluxbox, except when I quit from the fluxmenu) my mouse pointer remains on the screen of my console. I don't get any errors from X. I realise this is a fairly small problem, but I work alot in the console, so it's a bit of a pain as it obscures my text. The mouse pointer isn't movable; if I'm using gpm the gpm pointer still works as normal. This happens if I kill X with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace in any WM, and it still happens if I quit Icewm from the menu. It's worth noting that the mouse pointer doesn't persist if I exit through the fluxbox menu. X doesn't give out any errors.

I run Slackware 10.2, and have the exact same setup on my laptop, but I haven't experienced the problem there. I've searched on the web and on these forums extensively but could not find a similair problem.

Many thanks in advance,

~Loz

If anyone else encounters this problem, I got around it by installing the propietary nvidia drivers and running nvidia-xconfig. I imagine if I had a greater knowledge of Linux I may have been able to hand edit my xorg.conf to make it work, but this way I get 3d acceleration too!

Thanks anyway, Slack is shaping up to be a fantastic distribution in my eyes. It's really satisfying to solve a problem rather than have everything done for you.
