Mouse moves up/down, not left/right

When I go into linux, usually, my mouse only moves up and down, but not left and right, or wheel, or anything else. (before and when I enter X)
This happened the day before yesterday, but yesterday it worked perfectly fine. Today, it is not working again.
It is a wireless mouse, I have the settigns in xorg.conf "IMPS/2".
Really not sure what I need to do. It just doesn't work at random.

Slackware 10.2
KDE 3.4

when the wireless mouse on the other box
starts behaving like that, it usually
means it's time for some fresh batteries...

If it's not fixed, do you have "usbhid" in lsmod?

Actually, it was the batteries. I put some new ones in and it worked fine. Thanks for the help.
