mounting ext3?

I just installed Slackware 11 with the 2.16.17.13 kernel, and almost everything is working properly, except that I can't seem to mount ext3 partitions. At boot time I can see this message
Code:
EXT2-fs warning (device hdb2): ext2_fill_super:mounting ext3 filesystem as ext2
Does anyone know how I can solve this?

Make sure the kernel is compiled with ext3 support; if it is then check out this thread and see if it solves your problem. If you are still having problems, let me know. Good luck!

If you installed the 2.6.17.13 kernel from the install disc (bootup) it will not have installed the modules for the 2.6.17.13 kernel, you will need to install them manually.

Code:
cd /extra/linux-2.6.17.13/
installpkg kernel-modules-2.6.17.13-i486-1.tgz

I don't think that's necessarily the problem (the modules). I have 2.6.17.13-generic installed with the modules and the initrd set up per the README and I get this message during boot also (on my root partition which is ext3).

lsmod reveals (among other things):

Code:
ext3 120200 0
jbd 46356 1 ext3
I haven't worried about it too much as the system seems functional, but it's clearly a little goofy.

Do you get the same error if you try to mount the partition after you have booted? I wonder if you get that message during boot because the ext3 module has not been loaded yet. Did you do an initrd to load the ext3 module for booting purposes?
