mount options 'noatime' and 'commit=' make trouble at boot time.

Slackware 14.0

Hi:
Trying to slow down the rate at which the disk is accessed (sync_supers) I added the options noatime and commit=600 to /etc/fstab. Thus:
Code:
/dev/sda2 / ext2 defaults,noatime,commit=600 1 1
But when I booted, the linux partition could not be mounted r/w. I would like to know why that is.

commit= is an option for ext3 not ext2.
