mount -t hfs /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

This provides that /dev/cdrom is your cdrom device, /mnt/cdrom is an empty directory you have permissions to. You have permissions to use mount, and your kernel has hfs support compiled in or loaded as a module

Btw, if you just want to make an image of the disk you can use dd to do that without mounting it. dd can make a file with the exact byte by byte contents of the CD on it that you can then use cdrecord to burn.

What parameter should I pass to dd?
Does it look like this?

dd if=/dev/hda of=/hfsdisckimage

Anything else?
