More than 6 networkcards on Slackware 12
as you can see this info are from a Slack12 installation "rc.inet1.conf". I need suport for minimum 10 nic, What do I need to do?
# Compose a list of interfaces from /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf (with a maximum # of 6 interfaces, but you can easily enlarge the interface limit # - send me a picture of such a box :-). # If a value for IFNAME[n] is not set, we assume it is an eth'n' interface. # This way, the new script is compatible with older rc.inet1.conf files. # The IFNAME array will be used to determine which interfaces to bring up/down. MAXNICS=6 I am running 6 NIC now. |

Then, simply change the above line to Code:
MAXNICS=10 |

Hi,
What about multi port NICs? I think it would be feasible to get more then six with two 4 port NIC. I've not done it but I think it would be possible. |
The NIC
I was not meaning (NIC) Sorry for my word of choice.
I am meaning 2 NIC with 4 interface each. plus 2 built in interfaces. Total of 10 eth interfaces. I am using 2 D-Link "DFE-580TX" Today it is working with dynamips/dynagen and 1 "DFE-580TX" together with 4 "Realswitches" I have done some config with routing on a stick and trunks over to the switches. I have also config switches in 2 separated vlan but in the same network. did IRB (Bridging) the vlan together on the router. I have now order one more "DFE-580TX", So I can have some real fun. So when have recived my second card I will drop an picture. Why I am doing this? I am preparing for the CCIE lab R&S, and i need real switches to lab on, QoS on switches and mappings. Thanks. |
