modules not loading

i installed slack12 smoothly and was doing all my configuring for x w/ at drivers, madwifi and was in the process of getting alsa to work. i did a reboot and now for some reason im getting fatal errors loading modules, when i run lsmod its returning nothing at all, modprobe individule modlues returns with module not found errors. this is really weird, i never had a problem like this before, i rebooted a couple times before this but now its like my kernel modules went bye bye. anyone had this happen before?im not sure of i should just go ahead and recompile the kernel or what, this sux lol i was just about done configuring everything.

Lets see if they still exist. Look in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/ . Anything in there or under directories within that?

Under /boot is there a system.map file there matching the kernel version you are running?

If modules exist then run the command to generate a new modules map file. ' depmod -a ' to see if it will generate your modules.
