Modify slackbuild script version?

Hello,

I have been to Slackbuilds.org and d/loaded the rkhunter.1.3.2 slackbuild script.

rkhunter is now up to version 1.3.4.

can I simply change the VERSION variable in the script and expect everything to work ok?

Probably.

If the rkhunter guys are using version numbers correctly then 1.3.2 to 1.3.4 should really be only minor changes. The slackbuild is far more likely to still work going from 1.3.2 to 1.3.4 than if it was going to 1.4.

Unfortunately, a lot of projects aren't that disciplined with their version numbering schemes, so the only way to know for sure would be to try it.

I agree with GazL.

Of course, you should download the new source tarball in the directory created after expanding rkhunter.tar.gz.

If it works (or not), please drop a line to the maintainer whose email address is in rkhunter.SlackBuild.

Thankyou both for your replys.

I modified the VERSION variable in the build script, and it seems to have built the package ok. The program is installed and working

I have also emailed the maintainer.
