modem help SW 9.1

Greetings All,
I have purchased a new laptop and installed Slackware 9.1 I have been running SW on all my other (older) laptops with no problems. However I purchased a new Gateway 450X and have been able to get everything functioning perfectly except the modem.

Here is the line from lnpci:
00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corp. 82801DB AC'97 Modem (rev 03)

Here is the line from scanpci:
pci bus 0x0000 cardnum 0x1f function 0x05: vendor 0x8086 device 0x24c5
Intel Corp. 82801DB AC'97 Audio

I have tried installing slmdm-2.7.10.tar.gz but that did not work. And Intel does not have anything for a kernel newer that 2.2.18. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.
