Looking at your recent excrements you are a Slackware hater. So why don't you just remove yourself quietly?

I remind you that, regardless of his or your opinion, here you first of all are a LQ member.
So you (like anyone else, no exceptions) will mind your language and attitude.

Like the MLED project owner said: please read up on it.
And please show proper respect, so no antics or anything else in this or other threads that would force me to reconsider your LQ membership based on past contributions.

Nice work. Tried KDE edition on my old hardware. Just a small notice: when using KDE with old video adapter it sometimes isnt as fast as need for everyday work, but the solution is replacing Kwin with openbox. Maybe it would be reasonable to have openbox and openbox microlinux theme in MLED.

That's what the Xfce-based MLED Light is for. Around here, it's actually more popular than the standard edition.

BTW, what's your video card? What does "/sbin/lspci | grep -i vga" spit out?

old Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS It is very slow for KDE with kWin windows manager, but KDE with Openbox windows manager works very fast.

This video card works very nice, but be sure to enable KMS (Kernel Mode Setting). Switch from huge to generic kernel, and explicitly add the "i915" module to your initrd. You'll notice that all KWin effects are perfectly supported.

The Intel 945 video card without KMS activated for the i915 driver is basically a Porsche 911 with wooden tyres. It works, sort of.

Here's a good documentation about the subject.

Hello kikinovak,

I have installed MLED-14.1 6 months ago, and I enjoy your nice work.
Today, I would want update my system with a "slackpkg update" and I got this error :

Code:
--2014-10-04 18:44:54-- http://www.microlinux.fr/slackware/M.../CHECKSUMS.md5
Résolution de www.microlinux.fr (www.microlinux.fr)... 80.247.228.50

                        !!! F A T A L !!!
Repository 'microlinux' FAILS the CHECKSUMS.md5 download
The repository may be invalid and will be SKIPPED.

May I replace safely in my slackpkgplus.conf the old repository :
http://www.microlinux.fr/slackware/MLED-14.1-32bit/
by :
http://www.microlinux.fr/slackware/d...se-14.1-32bit/ and
http://www.microlinux.fr/slackware/d...ra-14.1-32bit/

I use also the mate repository :
http://slackware.org.uk/msb/14.1/1.8/x86/

On your site, there is no information about these recent modifications.

Hi,

MLED has gone through a period of trial and error and some iterations, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience. KDE and Xfce are officially supported, but... you can still use the desktop-base and desktop-extra repositories if you use a different desktop environment.

My advice: disable slackpkgplus.conf, clean your system using slackpkg clean-system, then configure the new repositories and install everything using "slackpkg install desktop-base", "slackpkg install desktop-whatever".

Cheers,

Niki
