Mlb tv

In case anyone's interested I have mlbviewer running on slackware-current, it's fairly straightforward.

I have a fairly basic install, running twm as my main desktop, all I had to add were simplejson, rtmpdump and gdata, all available as slackbuilds. It was then just a case of download mlbviewer2014:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mlbviewer/files/

untar, cd into the directory and run:

$ python mlbviewer.py

cd into ~/.mlb and add your login details to config then run it again as above and you should be good to go. Video opened in mplayer, audio was fine.

I posted this in the big mlb.tv thread in the fedora forum, just thought I would add it here.

There's other stuff you can do with the config too, I swapped mplayer for cvlc with no problem.

Is there really any need for this anymore? I thought that MLb.tv was dumping NextDef this year.

Very much so. Until now I was running MLB TV on the family Win7 laptop to one side as my old Toshiba Qosmio from 2005 couldn't hack it. I tried in semonkey, conkeror and other browsers but it was like it was running through thick treacle, totally unwatchable.

mlbviewer, however, is great for older hardware, it runs the stream perfectly and crystal clear and with it all being console-based it fits in very nicely with my desktop thank you very much.
