Missing operating system?


i just installed on one big ext3 partition, i dont have a swap partition.. and the install went ok and i configured the root paswrod and rebooted and took out the install cd and now it just sais 'Missing operating system' whats that all about?

did you install lilo? if so where?

The partition your using, did you make it bootable? Any other OS's on this machine? Did you install a boot loader?

i tried to install lilo but it wouldnt have it for some reason. so i made a boot disk floppy and try to boot up from that but i get stopped with a kernel panic. im going to try again and ill post back when i can tell you the problem in more detial...

you can use the install CD to boot your slack that intalled on your disk, then install lilo or grub in MBR.just try it ,good luck~
