Question Missing netconfig, ifconfig, etc ...

hi!

I installed slackware 9.1 a couple of days ago - did a full install of software categories a and x. now I wanted to set up network and internet access. but unfortunately I have neither netconfig nor ifconfig. :|
do I have to install them additionally? if yes, which packages are needed?

thx.

The problem is most likely that, by default, /sbin isn't part of $PATH for users other than root. Just add /sbin (and /usr/sbin if you want more) to your $PATH.

Well, non-root users can run /sbin/ifconfig to get info about their network interfaces. netconfig (and changing stuff with ifconfig) do require root, though.

Re: Re: Missing netconfig, ifconfig, etc ...

1. I AM root
2. ifconfig doesn't exist in /sbin
