minolta z1 digi-camera

i am using slackware 10.1 with bare.i comiled kernal
I mount the drive using:
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera
I can access /mnt/camera
i see dcim, which i cannot access, dcim seems to be one chunk of a file, i have tried accessing as if it were a directory to no avail, the camera is using a sd card.
does the kernal need recomping? something needed in lilo?
i tried : cp /mnt/camera/* /home/user/photos and i recieve
** dcim ommited**

You need to use the recursive switch (-r) with cp, otherwise it will ignore subdirectories.

e.g.
Code:
cp -r /mnt/camera/* /home/user/photos

thanks it seems to of worked, the battery went flat while copying though, so only some files can be viewed, hopefully there not corrupted, i doubt it , batteries are meant to go flat, it would be an unthought
full desighn, if the battery went while copying and the files dissappeard.
