Migrate installation to another hd

Hi all,

I would like to hear some advice from you regarding the next questions:

I want to migrate my current Slack installation to another hd (a faster and bigger one). How can I do that ? A simple cp / /mnt/newHD would work ? Will my /dev files get copied ? For Slackware I just have 2 partitions (the main one and the swap).

Also, my swap space will change from /dev/hdb1 to /dev/hda2 or something. Do I need to change anything or swap space will be detected ?

Thanks in advance. If someone has faced the problem or knows about any other problem I may find please let me know.

Bye

SnOp

P.D.: I already know that I'll need to add a new entry on lilo an re-install it.

make new directories on the new partition for /proc and /mnt.
then copy all the other directorieslike this
umask 000
cp -a /bin /mnt/newpartition
cp -a /etc /mnt/newpartition
etc... for all other (except /proc and /mnt) directories, including ones you have created
You'll need to edit fstab to point to the new swap, and create the directories in /mnt.
then reboot with a bootdisk and run liloconfig. You could also chroot into the new partition to do this , but I think it's easier to boot with a floppy
Voila!
You can find these directions (from Pat) in the ZipSlack faq.txt.

PD: Just a little note: since I'm using sys fs I had to create the dir /sys
