Well...I am not a long time Slack user, but have been using various major distros for about 8 years. Slack is not for someone who just wants an OS to use, without having to tweak it, or without having to learn command line system management, at least in my opinion. It is lean and fast though. There are very few GUI tools for configuration compared to RH. If you want to learn how to configure Linux and how it works, Slack is a good distro. I have been using Slack 9.0 now for about a week and I love it. Hope that helps!
