Madwifi slackbuild errors...

I am running on slack 11 and a 2.6.19.1 kernel, when I run the slackbuild script as per the direction on the madwifi page I get this error:

ake[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/build/tmp-madwifi/madwifi-0.9.2.1/ath'
test -d /tmp/build/package-madwifi//lib/modules/2.6.19/net || mkdir -p /tmp/build/package-madwifi//lib/modules/2.6.19/net
cp ath_pci.ko /tmp/build/package-madwifi//lib/modules/2.6.19/net
cp: cannot stat `ath_pci.ko': No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [install] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/build/tmp-madwifi/madwifi-0.9.2.1/ath'
make: *** [install-modules] Error 1
cp: cannot stat `SNAPSHOT': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `TODO': No such file or directory

the package does actually build itself, but without any modules. Any ideas?

I don't get it. I couldn't find the slackbuild on the madwifi site. Do you mean that you wrote it yourself based on instruction from the slackwiki site?

Why not try this one from Alien Bob (a.k.a. Eric Hameleers)?

My SlackBuild is actually the one referenced at the madwifi site.
But the most recent madwifi release (0.9.2.1) does not compile on kernel 2.6.19 and higher. You will need a madwifi snapshot of recent days for that.

When I have time I will upload a version of the script that works with new kernels. Or you can try to adapt it for a madwifi snapshot yourself.

I'm getting tired, the link was right there (first link of "paragraph Building a slackware package for madwifi from source").

Well, I'll take some time out this week-end :-)

Well that certainly answers my question. Thanks a bunch for the info. I don't need to go wireless for a few more weeks so I will just wait patiently as my own expertise with slackbuild scripts are non-existent.

Madwifi 0.9.3 release is just somewhere around the corner, could even be released before 2007. That 0.9.3 works with the 2.6.19 kernel and onwards.

Thanks, I did a check install after getting antsy, but I prefer to use the slackbuild scrips you put up. I'll keep an eye out.
