Macbook Pro 6,2 keyboard and trackpad unresponsive during/after boot

Hi folks,

I decided to put a spare hard drive into my 2010 Macbook Pro 6,2
in place of the main drive that has OS/X on it, and to use that
drive for Slackware64 14.0.

The install went fine however when I rebooted I discovered that
the Mac's built-in USB keyboard and trackpad were completely unresponsive.

I checked /var/log/messages and there were no error pertaining
to USB devices that I saw. I did not see the keyboard being
recognized but then that could just mean the driver was not
very verbose. I tried switching from the huge.s kernel to the
generic.s kernel but this did not fix the problem.

I also tried booting with some parameters that in another forum
someone claimed fixes this issue but these did not work. They
were parameters to modify the i915 driver, plus the noefi switch.

So it appears I cannot use Slackware on this computer. This is in
contrast to Debian, which although it never finishes booting up
because the screen gets garbled, at least the keyboard does work.

This is also in contrast to Debian-based Tails 0.19, which works
quite well and starts up X and even the Wifi works.

But... I would prefer to use Slackware so if anyone has any clue
as to what might be going wrong can you please assist?

Thanks!

I would try tracking down what firmware and kernel modules are in use under Tails, and then get them going under Slackware. Maybe even copy the xorg.conf and the /lib/firmware stuffs from Tails to Slack.

Turns out I just got it to work. The key was to put noefi acpi=on in the kernel boot params. After that the keyboard works just fine.

Thanks though.
