ltmodem is busy

i've a notebook with an ltmodem installed on it that is making me crazy trying to configure an internet connection.
at last i've found out the rigth spot where i found the correct drivers.
i've followed the step by step howto and i've managed compiling and installing the drivers but after the reboot if i try kppp it hangs and tell "the modem is busy".
any idea on how to solve the problem?

Could be a permissions problem - have you joined all of the correct groups (dialout, maybe tty) ?

With LTModems you usually have to go back to the basics to get them to work - check that the module's installed, that all permissions are correct, and that you're pointing at the correct device (use eithe KPPP or Wvdialconf to check which device is active).

Cheers,

mj

Have a look in /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog to see if there are any clues. I think the 'busy' message is because the driver is not working, as mjrich said. Try also doing lsmod in a terminal and see if the ltmodem driver is listed.
