Slapt-get works well for what you guys are needing. Check out the /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc file to change your repositories you can add official slackware mirror's in this file. Always be sure to run slapt-get --update after making changes to the slapt-getrc file. Gslapt is the GTK frontend for slapt-get and it will be great for anyone running XFCE or gnome, be careful if you use more than one mirror though.. Always check to see what changes are going to be made to your system.. I personally prefer the non-gui method myself because I use 3 different mirrors, slackware-current, gsb, and slacky.. I like to run --upgrade -s which will only simulate an upgrade and you don't have to worry about breaking things this way.. Whether you are using the GUI or the command line, it is still good practice to observe the changes that will be made to your system before you proceed! Also there is an app called slapt-src which will build and install packages from source code. There is a frontend for it as well in the SalixOS repositories, it is called Sourcery . It is much like GSlapt but for slapt-src These should be the only GUI package tools you will need on Slackware as far as GTK is concerned.
