Hi,
I never before was interested to localize my computer - English was quite enough for me - but now it seems I have to set up my Slackware to work with my native language. First of all I want have both English and Polish on my computer. I don't really know how to localize Slackware. It was always a mystery for me. How it should be done on Slackware?
You can do per user localization. Exporting locale in lang.sh is global for the system. To enable given locale per user just edin user's ~/.bashrc file and add i.e.
Code:
export LANG=en_GB.UTF8
. DE should detect the locale and switch to proper language if it is installed.
Thank to you all. I know that KDE has well language support and there is a Polish package for KDE. But it is not only about KDE. KDE is one of the possible choices. But nevertheless there should a script or hint for user in the time of an installation. Localization can be made during an installation or as post-installation task. It is one of the greatest weaknes of Slackware - poor support for internationalization. What do I mean? Say an installer in user's native language - Polish, German and so on. Maybe sometime in the future....
