LMO-Installer for SlackwareŽ

Hi,

I just received an email from Manfred Mueller aka Quax, announcing a new release of ' lmo-installer 0.2.iso'.
A SlackwareŽ Network Installer that is forked from the Tukaani installer with kernel 2.6.22.10-qx4. This installer has the ability to install SlackwareŽ via ftp from a SlackwareŽ official mirror or a custom mirror.

I just downloaded the iso from the live-modules.org site. I will be checking this out Monday mourning.

I have already included the lmo-installer 0.2.iso' link in 'Slackware-Links'

I would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has already tested the original 'lm-installer.iso'.

Manfred requested that I hold off including a link in the wiki until the new release was available.

Thanks onebuck, glad to know about it, i just installed arch and freebsd again, and i think it's nice to have that option in Slackware besides slackware/usb-and-pxe-installers. Thanks again.

lmo installer

Thanks for the link and info.

Just got the iso and cooked up the CD. That CD is now in a another box (P3-800mhz-128mRAM) which is installing Slackware 12 as this is being typed. The choices are Slackware Current, Slackware 12, and Custom URL.

This "lmo installer" is simple, and has the look and feel of the Slackware installers we are familiar with.

My next post will be from the box currently loading.

I installed Slackware 12.0 about 15 times with the LMO installer (I got the ISO from Manfred Mueller some time ago) without any problems.

This installer is great!

Fluxx.

LMO installer

I'm with Fluxx.

Just finished the Slack_12 install using "lmo installer" and it is a fine tool.

Glad to hear that this installer works for everyone. Any negative feedback at all?

I'll be trying the lmo-installer.0.2.iso out this mourning when time is available.

If you have any feedback, please let me know.

I'll have to take a look at this, proper FTP install is something I have always missed in the official installer.

Hi,

All I did was provide the link. Manfred Mueller aka Quax, created the lmo-installer.0.2.iso.

I've still got to test it. Busy getting things done outside. I've got a lot to do before it gets cold around here. Still got a lot of barn work to get done. It has started raining, so now I've got some computer work that must be done. Then the experimenting begins.

I too want a good ftp installer. Less work.

Agreed. A good ftp installer for Slackware would be wonderful. I love the net install ISO that Debian uses.....it works flawlessly.

LMO-Installer / nic recognition / dhcpcd

Once done, however, the installations went flawlessly, one from an ftp server, the other from my nfs server...
I will work on adjusting the kernel(-modules) and dhcpcd next weekend to ensure that the installer works as expected. I think I will base the new version on 2.6.23.1.

Same, and many others. My favorite is OpenBSD's installer.

@LMO: Thank you

That was my comment & I appreciate your efforts, LMO. The installer has really been handy & I'm looking forward to it getting even better.
Regards,
Bill
