I just received an email from Manfred Mueller aka Quax, announcing a new release of ' lmo-installer 0.2.iso'.
A SlackwareŽ Network Installer that is forked from the Tukaani installer with kernel 2.6.22.10-qx4. This installer has the ability to install SlackwareŽ via ftp from a SlackwareŽ official mirror or a custom mirror.
I just downloaded the iso from the live-modules.org site. I will be checking this out Monday mourning.
Thanks onebuck, glad to know about it, i just installed arch and freebsd again, and i think it's nice to have that option in Slackware besides slackware/usb-and-pxe-installers. Thanks again.
Just got the iso and cooked up the CD. That CD is now in a another box (P3-800mhz-128mRAM) which is installing Slackware 12 as this is being typed. The choices are Slackware Current, Slackware 12, and Custom URL.
This "lmo installer" is simple, and has the look and feel of the Slackware installers we are familiar with.
My next post will be from the box currently loading.
Wow, very cool, onebuck:-) Thanks for this!
I am watching this thread with interest! This is indeed an excellent option for us:-)
Hi,
All I did was provide the link. Manfred Mueller aka Quax, created the lmo-installer.0.2.iso.
I've still got to test it. Busy getting things done outside. I've got a lot to do before it gets cold around here. Still got a lot of barn work to get done. It has started raining, so now I've got some computer work that must be done. Then the experimenting begins.
...I have now installed -current on two different machines, with only one hitch. In neither case did the network card get automatically recognized. I had to select the "All questions" option, then select my network card driver from the list. Then I had to manually configure my network, instead of using dhcpcd to automagically configure it. Once done, however, the installations went flawlessly, one from an ftp server, the other from my nfs server...
I will work on adjusting the kernel(-modules) and dhcpcd next weekend to ensure that the installer works as expected. I think I will base the new version on 2.6.23.1.

That was my comment & I appreciate your efforts, LMO. The installer has really been handy & I'm looking forward to it getting even better.

Bill
