Linux voice issue 6
Just to say I wrote a wee article about Slackware for Linux Voice issue 6 - http://www.linuxvoice.com/issue-6/
|
Congratulations! Unfortunately that isn't one I've seen here in the US... if you're permitted, after it's been out for awhile, perhaps you could post it?

Linux Voice has promised to release their content to the public nine months after it's released, but they have posted selected articles from previous issues to their website.
I got my copy in the mail a few days ago, but haven't yet made time to read it. |
Thanks. They do sell in the US, both paper and digital. If it appears on their blog I'll post the link.

I read the review with breakfast this morning. Nicely done and I commend your efforts to dispel the myth that Slackers must recite mystic incantations and sacrifice small animals to Bob to install the OS and packages.
I think one reason that Slackware has attained that reputation comes long before initial login, in that users are expected to partition their own hard drives by doing something other than clicking "Next-->Next-->Next . . . ." (Since I was an old DOSsie and familiar with DOS fdisk, I found cfdisk easy to understand and use. I still haven't figured out Linux fdisk much beyond "fdisk -l".) Just my two cents. Again, a very well-done and balanced review. |

Thanks Frank. It wasn't really meant as a review, more a "how I use and why I like slackware" and hopefully dispel some misconceptions. Just spotted a typo - arg, checked it so many times!

Typos are a Linux Voice tradition.:)
I forgive them without hesitation. I've made my share. |
